Over $400 million in lost or forgotten money was returned to consumers last year. The Comptroller’s Office has an online database where you can check to see if you’re owed money.

Woman Charged With Animal Cruelty

A woman is charged with animal abuse after 3 cats found abandoned in an Edmeston apartment. According to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office the felines were without food, water or heat for about 10 days. The cats were brought to the Susquehanna SPCA but one of then sis not survive.

Morris Woman Charged With Child Abuse

A woman from Morris faces child abuse charges from an Otsego County Sheriff’s Office investigation. The abuse involved 2 children and occurred over an unspecified period of time. The woman was released on her own recognizance pending a future court date.

Charges are filed in a Middlefield domestic dispute. Police say it happened last month when a woman subjected the victim to unwanted physical contact. The woman was arrested and arraigned, and an order of protection was issued. She is free on her own recognizance.

Bassett Announces First 2023 Birth

Bassett Medical Center’s birthing center in Cooperstown announced its first baby of 2023 was born at 3:15 a.m. Monday. Ezra was born ro parents Calvin and Sarah Hardy of Jordanville. He weighed eight pounds and was 21 inches long. Ezra has 2 older siblings.

Missing Davenport Man Found Safe

State Police announced a Davenport man who’s been missing since just before Christmas is found safe. Investigators say 78-year-old Theodore Sikora was last seen at a local gas station. It’s not clear where he was found or if he had been injured.

Oneonta Picking Up Christmas Trees

The City of Oneonta is collecting non-artificial Christmas trees from now through the end of the month. Residents can dispose of their trees in the normal trash pickup. Contack the Department of Public Works if you have any questions about the pickup schedule.
