DiNapoli Calls on Corporations to Disclose Political Spending

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli calls on 7 corporations in the New York State Common Retirement Fund portfolio to disclose their direct and indirect spending on political causes and wants 2 others to adopt a new policy before contributing to the political activities of third-party organizations.

Oneonta Police Investigate Ananymous Assistance Phone Call

Oneonta Police are investigating the origins of a phone call made by a woman who told officers she was about to give birth. The caller indicated she was in the Luther Street area but officers were not able to locate her. Investigators say the call mahe have come from outside the area.

United Way Merger Now Complete

The Chenango United Way and the United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties completed their merger. The organization is now known as the United Way of Mid Rural New York and officials say they will continue to champion the unique identities and needs of each of the counties the nonprofit serves.

DEC’s Annual Tree and Shrub Seedling Sale is Now Open

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced the start of the Colonel William F. Fox Memorial Saratoga Tree Nursery annual spring seedling sale. Each year, the nursery offers low-cost, New York-grown tree and shrub species for sale to encourage plantings. The sale ends May 12.

DiNapoli Urges New Yorkers to Spend Holiday Gift Cards

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli is urging residents to make sure they spend any gift cards they received this holiday season. Unused gift card balances can eventually be turned over to his Office of Unclaimed Funds which took in a record $48 million from them in 2022.

Delhi Man Charged In Springbrook Incident

A man is facing multiple charges in connection with an incident at Springbrook last November. According to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office the man from Delhi is charged with Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Harassment.

Schager Named NYSP Troop G Commander

State Police announce Major Dennis J. Schager is the new Commander of Troop G which encompasses Schoharie County. Major Schager served at Troop C in Sidney after graduating from the State Police Academy in 1998. He was most recently with the New York State Intelligence Center at Division Headquarters.

DelCo BOS Holds Organizational Meeting

The Delaware County Board of Supervisors conducted its annual Organizational meeting on Thursday to elect a Chairman and Vice Chairman, appoint a new Clerk of the Board, and confirm department head appointments. Sheriff Craig DuMond and Corporal Brian Perazone delivered a presentation on the state-mandated Threat Assessment Team which the Sheriff’s Office is organizing.

Motorcyclist Charged In Police Pursuit

A motorcyclist is facing charges from a New Year’s Eve police pursuit that went through Oxford and Preston and ended in the Town of McDonough. Police say the chase speeds exceeded twice the speed limit and ended when the rider crashed. He was hospitalized then arraigned.

Otsego County OFA Seeks Outstanding Resident Nominees

The Otsego County Office For The Aging seeks nominees for its Outstanding Resident award. Nominees need to be county residents who are at least 60 years old who give back to the community or volunteers their time. A nomination form can be filled out on the Otsego County website.
