Hochul Delivers SOTS Address

Bail reform, gun violence and mental health services were some of the topics in Governor Kathy Hochul’s state of the state address on Tuesday. Hochul also called for building more affordable housing and raising the state minimum annually to adjust for rising costs.

Fire Damages Deposit Barn

A fire damaged a barn in Deposit on Monday. 3 other fire companies assisted Deposit firefighters to get the fire extinguished. It’s not clear how much damage resulted. No injuries were reported and the fire’s cause is being investigated.

Man Chared With Custodial Interference

A man is charged with custodial interference after he would not return a child to their legal guardian. According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office it happened in the Town of Hamden and the man was the child’s biological father. He was booked then released on his own recognizance.

OFO Conducting Homeless Count On Jan. 26

Opportunities for Otsego conducts its annual homeless count on Thursday, Jan. 26. It’s in partnership with the NY-511 Continuum of Care/Southern Tier Homeless Coalition and officials say it will provide an estimate of homeless persons and an inventory of dedicated homeless beds.

Storm Drainage Work Under Way In Oneonta

City of Oneonta crews are doing storm drainage work at the intersection of West Broadway and Miller Street through Thursday. Work hours are from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.Drivers are asked to use caution and obey all temporary traffic control devices.

Sixth Pediatric Flu Death Reported

The State Department of Health announced a sixth child died from the flu this season. Officials continue to emphasize the importance of those six months and older getting a flu shot. There’s been close to 280.000 flu cases statewide so far.

Traffic Stop Turns Into Drug Bust

A Schoharie County traffic stop turns into a drug bust with a man now facing multiple charges. Police say they found the man had several controlled substances in his vehicle implying he was trafficking drugs. A search at his home in Fulton uncovcered more drugs and $25,000 in cash.

SUNY Oneonta Holding Youth Baseball Clinics

Head SUNY Oneonta baseball coach Ben Grimm has announced three youth baseball clinics to be held in February. The clinics run on three consecutive Sundays on Feb. 5, 12, & 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Alumni Field House.
