Smyrna Dinged In SiNapoli Audit

An audit from State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office finds the town of Smyrna did not always properly audit its claims for payment. The audit covered Jan. 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. Officials say they plan to update payment and policy procedures this month.

Delhi Man Charged In Home Burglary

Bond is set at $50,000 for a Dehi man indicted in a burglary last August. Prosecutors say the man had a loaded shotgun when he broke into a Town of Delhi home damaging the property and stole several items. He is due in court next week.

NY Allocates $38M to Address Street Homelessness

New York allocates over $38 million to establish eight Safe Options Support teams that will provide intensive outreach, engagement and care coordination services to the homeless outside of New York City. These teams will be deployed in areas of the state with high rates of street homelessness.

Ferrarese Running For Re-Election

Chenango County District Attorney Michael Ferrarese says he will run for re-election in November. He first joined the district attorney’s office in 2010 and was promoted to First Assistant District Attorney in 2015. He was elected to a full term in 2019.

Friends Of Rogers Winter Living Celebration Is Saturday

The Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center presents the 45th annual Winter Living Celebration on Saturday at the Center in Sherburne. The free event will feature horse drawn sleigh rides, fire pits, snow painting and ice fishing. It beings at 11:00 a.m. and goes until 3:00 p.m.

Suspect Charged In Roxnury Larceny

An employee of a Roxbury business is charged in a State Police investigation into stealing cash from the store. Troopers were alerted to the theft and stopped the individual where they found cash and drugs. The suspect was booked and released pending a future court date.

Battistoni SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year

SUNY Oneonta graduate student Tristan Battistoni is named the 2022 State University of New York Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year. This is the second consecutive year Battistoni has achieved this honor. He is a Business Economics major with a concentration in marketing.

Richmondville Church Allowed To Reopen Warming Center

A church in Richmondville is allowed to reopen its warming center after a hearing with the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals. The Times-Journal reports Catholic Charities will be running the 10-bed, facility in the Warnerville United Methodist Church annex for those needing overnight shelter when temperatures drop below 32 degrees.
