NY Makes Availability of $7.5 Million for Opioid Treatment Programs

New York makes up to $7.5 million for state-certified providers and other treatment programs to address opioid addiction and save lives. The grants will be the first to tap New York State’s Opioid Settlement Fund and will help develop up to 15 programs offering a safe, effective treatment for opioid use disorder.

Over 1250 Make SUNY Oneonta Dean’s List

More than 1,250 SUNY Oneonta students earned Dean’s List honors for the fall 2022 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more.

NY Makes $70M From Mega Millions Jackpot Run

The record-setting $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot helped New York’s lottery generate more than $70 million in revenue. That’s from when the jackpot’s ticket sales started last October through the January 13 drawing. Ticket sales totaled $172.4 million during the run.

Schenevus CSD Appoints Second Interim Superintendent

The Schenevus Central School District Board of Education appointed Jeff Bennett as interim superintendent. He succeeds Ed Shultis who was appointed as interim superintendent after Superintendent Theresa Carlin resigned Dec. 27. The Board is conducting a search for Carlin’s successor and brought in a consultant to coordinate the process.

NYSP Releases US20 Speed Enforcement Results

State Police announced the results of a one-day speed enforcement initiative last week along the New York portion of U.S. Highway 20. Troopers issued 178 citations with 104 of those for speed. Another 41 warnings werte given. Route 20 covers more than 370 miles in New York.

Juvenile Charged In CV Park Vandalism

An Otsego County Sheriff’s investigation into vandalism at the Cherry Valley Village Park results in a juvenile facing criminal mischief charges. The individual was taken into custody last week and a Juvenile Appearance Ticket was issued. No details were provided on the individual’s release status.

Man Arrested For Felony Assault

A man is facing felony charges from an iunvestigation into an incident last month at Job Corps in Oneonta. Police say the man attempted to assault another man with a barbell weight while in the gym. The suspect was taken into custody and held at the Otsego County Jail pending arraignment.

SUNY Oneonta University Police Unveil New Patrol Car Graphics

SUNY Oneonta University Police implements a re-design of the graphics on patrol vehicles. This new design will help differentiate their cars from local police agencies. The design has been implemented on one vehicle and will be included on new ones as they follow our regular vehicle replacement schedule.

State Encourages Taking Steps to Safeguard Private Data

This is Data Privacy Week and the State Office of Information Technology Services has teamed with other state agencies to promote techniques for protecting private data. That includes aising awareness of phishing schemes, using strong passwords, and exhibiting greater caution with information shared on social media.
