CANO Chili Bowl Cook-Off & Fundraiser Is Saturday

Community Arts Network of Oneonta’s Chili Bowl Cook-Off & Fundraiser is this Saturday from noon until 4:00 p.m. Chefs will compete in three categories: professional, amateur and judge’s choice. Attendees pick out their bowl in the studio before going to taste the chili.

State Senate Passes Limo Safety Bills

State Senator Peter Oberacker announced the chamber passed several bills to help increase safety for limousine passengers. The legislation follows recommendations advanced by the Stretch Limousine Passenger Safety Task Force. The bills now go to the Assembly for approval.

Nominations Sought For Oneonta Inclusive Business Award

Nominations are sought for the Oneonta Inclusive Business Award. It is a joint initiative of SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College aimed at fostering partnerships between area businesses, organizations, and the two institutions. Nominations are due by March 17. Landers Retiring As Pathfinder Village Presiudent & CEO

Pathfinder Village announced Paul C. Lander is retiring as president and chief executive officer. A committee started its search for Lander’s successor. He will remain in his role through a successful transition of leadership. In retirement Landers will spend more time with family, especially his five grandchildren

Sales Tax Collections Up In ’22

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli announced local government sales tax collections totaled $22.1 billion in calendar year 2022, up 12.7%, or $2.5 billion, from 2021 due to strong sales statewide, and inflation. Every county saw some year-over-year growth in sales tax collections in 2022.

Molinaro Opens Offices In Oneonta & Hancock

19th District Congressman Marc Molinaro opened district offices in Oneonta and Hancock. The Oneonta office is at 41 South Main Street and the Hancock office is at 661 West Main Street. Appointments are required to speak with Molinaro at these locations and can be made at molinaro.house.gov.

SQSPCA Holding Community Cat Forum

The Susquehanna Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is holding a ‘Community Cat Forum’ this Thursday at 4:00 p.m. A panel of animal welfare specialists and advocates taddress growing community cat issues in Otsego County. Following the panel discussion, the public will be able to make comments.

O’Neill Murder Suspect Takes Plea Deal

One of the 2 suspects in the 2022 stabbing death of Kaleb O’Neill takes a plea deal. Prosecutors say Terry DeCutler pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Otsego County Court. He will be sentenced later in the year and could be in jail from 20 years to life.
