NY Ends Healthcare Mask Mandate

New York ends the mask mandate for hospitals and healthcare facilities. The regulation went into effect when the pandemic started in 2020. New York was one of the last states that had mandates for hospitals and health care settings after the CDC modified its guidance last September.

Schenevus CSD Residents Will Vote Wednesday On Merger

Schenevus Central School District residents head to the polls on Wednesday to decide if the district should merge with the Worcester district. Voters rejected the merger in December 2021 but Worcester voters okayed the union. . Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m.

HUD Grants Awarded To Local Organizations

Opportunities for Otsego and Catholic Charities of Chenango County receive grats from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to aid in fighting homelessness. The OFO grant is just over $716,000 while the Catholic Charities award topped $446,000.

NY Allocates Dunding For Animal Shelters

New York makes $7.6 million available to support animal shelters and humane societies in making critical upgrades. This is the fifth round of funding for New York State’s Companion Animal Capital Fund which enhances animal care and help to ensure adoptions for dogs and cats.

Oxford Crash Results In Death

A teenager is killed in a crash Wednesday in th town of Oxford. State Police say it happened in the area of 1100 Hoben Rd. and a passenger identrified as Taylor Demuth of Norwich was partially ejected from it and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver is facing multiple charges.

Oneonta Man Charged With Felony In Gun Transaction

A man from Oneonta faces a felony charge from an Otsego County Sheriff’s investigation into a gun transaction. The man is accused of providing false information while trying to buy a gun from a sporting goods store. The man is due in coiurt on March 2.

Tips Sought To Find Missing Nineveh Woman

State Police seek the public’s assistance in locating 21-year-old Judy A. Benjamin of Nineveh who was last seen last week at her Thorn Hill Road residence. She is 5’4” and weighs approximately 100 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. Her photo is on the State police Facebook page.
