DelCo SRO Attends Training Class

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Clark attended the 2nd Annual School Safety Training Conference for School Resource Officers in Saratoga. The four day conference is attended by over 200 School Rrespurce Officers and many school administrators, superintendents and counselors. Clark serves as a SRO.

DOL Reminds Workers About Protected Absence Law

The State Department of Labor reminds workers about a new law about taking legally protected absences from the job. It is illegal for employers to threaten, penalize, discriminate, or retaliate against employees for using protected absences including time off covered by paid family leave or paid sick leave.

Hartwick Students & Instructor Go To DC Conference

Four Hartwick College students and Professor of Political Science Laurel Elder attended and presented at The National Political Science Honor Society’s Undergraduate Research Conference, It was held last week at George Washington University in the nation’s capital from February 17-19. The trip was funded by Hartwick’s FlightPath program.

Vacant Cobleskill Hotel Up For Auction

The former Best Western and Top of the Town in Cobleskill is hitting the auction block. According to the Times-Journal the auction is in the Schoharie County Courthouse at 10am on March 16. The hotel hhas been vacant for over 4 years.

UHS Lifts Mask Mandates At Most Facilities

United Health Services officials announce masking is no longer required at most facilities including Delaware Valley Hospital. The policy will be reviewed on a weekly basis and could change. Masks are still required at UHS Senior Living at Ideal and UHS Senior Living at Chenango Memorial Hospital.

Schenevus Again Rejects Merger With Worcester CSD

Once again Schenevus Central School District residents veto the merger with the Worcester Central School District. The first vote was in late 2021 and a resident called for another vote last month. Worcester voters previously approved the merger. Schenevus officials say a third vote isn’t likely to happen.

Nearly $4.4 million in grants will be awarded to community-based providers to support professional training and job placement efforts for an increased number of high-skilled immigrants.

Teen Hit By Car In Sidney Fighting For Her Life

The 14-year-old hit by a car in Sidney is fighting for her life at a Syracuse hospital. The teen was was found on Sharon Street last Wednesday. According to NewsChannel34 doctors initiated a medically-induced coma. The driver is now facing multiole charges.

DelCo BOS Holds Public Hearing On Wednesday

Tthe Delaware County Board of Supervisors will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Room of the Senator Charles D. Cook County Office Building in Delhi. It is regarding the eight-year review of Agricultural District No. 6 and to discuss proposed requests and recommendations.
