Bassett Unveils Stroke Awareness Exhibit

Bassett Medical Center unveiled a stroke awaremess exhibit on Wednesday at its Cooperstown Outpatient Clinic Lobby. It emphasised the F.A.S.T stroke awareness acronym which stands for “Face Drooping, Arm Weakness, Slurred Speech, Time to call 9-1-1”.Two other exhibits will travel to other Bassett locations.

Bassett Expands Visitation Hours

Bassett Healthcare Network expanded visitation hours at all of its inpatient and clinic locations. They now run from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Anyone who enters the building has to wear a mask during their entire visit and participate in screening procedures when arriving.

NY Adopts Farm Worker OT Regulations

New York officially adopts new farm worker overtime regulations which will gradually reduce the threshold from 60 hours to 40 hours over the next several years. The reductions start next year and the threshold is expected to reach 40 hours by 2032.

CCSO Accepting NYS Sheriff’s Summer Camp Applications

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the annual New York State Sheriffs’ Summer Camp, They have slots for 8 boys and 8 girls between the ages of 9 and 12 who because of economic reasons would not have an opportunity to attend a summer camp. Apply by March 10.

Robert Bensen Appreaing At SUNY Oneonta

The SUNY Oneonta Red Dragon Reading Series presents Robert Bensen reading from his seventh book, What Lightning Spoke: New & Selected Poems. The event is March 1 at the Morris Conference Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. The book will be available for signing.

NPD Chief Marsh Recognized By Common Council

The City of Norwich Common Council recognizes Police Chief Rodney Marsh on his retirement from a nearly 30-year law enforcement career. The Evening Sun reports Mayor Brian Doliver presented Marsh with a plaque thanking him for his many years of service and dedication to the Norwich community.

New Berlin Woman Arrested On Harrasment Charge

A woman is taken into custody following a complaint in the Town of Edmeston. An Otsego County Sheriff’s Office investigation resulted in the woman who is from New Berlin being charged with 2nd degree harrasment. She will appear in Town of Edmeston Court on a later date.

OCSO Deputy Retires

Otsego County Deputy Sheriff James P. Mateunas officially retired this week after a 23 year career. Mateunas was seriously injured in 2019 when a fleeing suspect deliberately hit his patrol vehicle head on in the Town of Springfield and those injuries prevent him from continuing his career.

Applications Acc3epted For FASNY Scholarships

The Firefighters Association of the State of New York is accepting applications for its Gerard J. Buckenmeyer Memorial Scholarship Program. Each year they provide 25 high school seniors with a $1500 scholarship to continue their post-secondary education. The application deadline is March 15.
