A man from Meredith charged with harassment and criminal contempt takes a plea deal. Prosecutors say Jonathan Sanchez pleaded guilty to harassing an individual who was under an order of protection. Sanchez will remain in jail until space at a rehabilitation center becomes available.
Deparetment of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers participated in a recent Flat Ice Rescue Training session held in the town of Summit. It took place on Looking Glass Pond and the training included field exercises where Rangers demonstrated their self-rescue, reach, and throw-and-go skills.
The woman who hit a teenager with her car in the Village of Sidney last month is now facing charges. Prosecutors say she was indicted on 10 counts in the inciden that critically injured the teenager. The woman pleaded not guilty to all charges in Delaware County Court.
A man from Cheenango County charged in a town of Fenton attempted assault takes a plea deal. Prosecutors say Michael G. Seaman admitted he stabbed a teenager in the leg during a road rage incident last October. Seaman faces 4 years in state prison and 5 years of post-release supervision.
Two men from Rome are charged with larceny for stealing items from Walmart in Oneonta. State Police say one man was caught loading the stolen merchandise into a truck and the other was still inside taking more items. One of the two had an Oneida County arrest warrant.
Oneonta Mayor Mark Drnek delivered the State of the City address on Tuesday. He set a goal of bringing 1,000 new or returning residents to Oneonta dueing the next year. Drnek akso addressed homelessness saying ensuring their wellness is the city’s responsibility as a caring community.
The Cooperstown Zoning Board of Appeals rejects a request to allow short-term rentals at a Lake Street property. All Otsego reports the board turned down the request on Tuesday after a public hearing. It’s not clear if the permit applicant will appeal the decision.
A juvenile is fcing charges from an incident at an Otsego County school. The Sheriff’s office says the juvenile subjected another student to unwanted physical contact in a bathroom at the school. The Otsego County Child Advocacy Center assisted in the investigation.
Students of Walton’s Townsend Elementary School helped United Health Services Delaware Valley Hospital again this year with the Pennies From Heaven fundraiser. Nearly 825 lb of pennies were collected resulting in $1,500 donated to DVH. This is the 25th year of the fundraiser.
