A second candidate enters the race for Delaware County District Attorney. Joe Ermeti announced his candidacy last week. Earlier acting DA Shawn Smith announced he will run for the post. Both are running as Republicans.

Edmeston Man Charged In Child Sex Investigation

A man from Edmeston is taken into custody after an Otsego County Sheriff’s investigation into reports he had a sexual relationship with a minor. The man is also accused of sending indecent material to a minor while employed outside of New York state.

Otsego Board Table Tax Evemption Vote

Town of Otsego lawmakers postpone voting on granting a 10% real estate tax exemption to active volunteer firemen and ambulance workers. According to All Otsego the board wants the town attorney to review the exemption before voting on it.

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says audits of 20 school districts found nearly $22 million worth of information technology assets were subject to potential theft, loss or misuse. DiNapoli says districts need to ensure these devices are tracked and protected so taxpayers know their money isn’t being squandered.

DEC Releases Draft Solid Waste Management Plan

The State Department of Environmental Conservation released the draft Solid Waste Management Plan for a 60-day public comment period. 2 Drivers Charged In One Walton Crash

2 drivers face charges from a one-car accident in Walton. Police say the first driver crashed his car on State Highway 206 near Davis Road. The person who came to pick that driver up didn’t have a valid driver license. Both drivers have dates pending in Walton court.

Police To Crackdown on Impaired Driving this St. Patrick’s Day

State Police and local law enforcement increase patrols to combat drunk, impaired and reckless driving as St. Patrick’s Day celebrations get underway. This special traffic enforcement detail is funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and runs through Sunday. Police will also conduct checks for underage drinking and unlawful sales to minors.

Otsego Man Charged In Domestic Dispute

A Town of Otsego man is charged in a domestic dispute investigation by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office. The man subjected the victim to unwanted physical contact and took their phone to prevent the victim from contacting 911. An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.

Bovina Center Chef Up For Statewide Award

A Bovina Center restaurant co-owner is a semi-finalist for the Best Chef in New York Award. Sohail Zandi opened Brushland Eating House in 2014 with his wife Sara. Finalists will be announced on March 29 and winners chosen on June 5.
