The City of Oneonta Welcome Committee’s Inaugural Mayor’s “Welcome to Oneonta” Reception is today from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Community Room in Southside Mall. Oneonta newcomers and potential residents are encouraged to attend. This event is free and open to the public.

Brush Fire In Delhi

A brush fire broke out in Delhi on Thursday. Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Main Street and got the fire under control in about a half-hour. It’s not clear what caused the fire but officials warn the dry coinditions make fires more likely

FCSO Trained On New #-D Scanner

Members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and Delaware County Emergency Services Department attended Training on a new 3-D Scanner and software system that will be utilized to document and/or reconstruct crime scenes, fatal and serious injury motor vehicle accidents and fire investigations as well as pre-incident planning.

NYC DEP Opens Arkville Office

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection opened an office in Arkville this week. Officials say the office on Route 38 in partnership with the Catskill Watershed Corporation is part of its continued commitment to promoting career and economic development opportunities throughout watershed communities in the Catskills.

Air Quality Alert In Effect Today

The State Department of Environmental Conservation issued an air quality health advisory for today in parts of Chenango, Delaware and Otsego counties. It runs from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Alerts are issued when an Air Quality Index value of 100 will be exceeded.

Progress Made On Richmondville Brush Fires

Firefighters are getting the upper hand on the massive brush fires on Route 7 in Richmondville at the Otsego/Schoharie County border. According to officials 2 of the fires are contained and another 200 acre fire is about 80% contained.

SNAP Farmer’s Market Reimbursements Increasing

The state e Department of Agriculture announces reimbursement increases for supplemental nutrition assistance program recipients who shop at certain farmers markets. The FreshConnect program will now offer a $2 rebate for each $2 spent. Reimbursements can be used for SNAP-eligible food at New York markets.
