New Gift Card Law Starts Jube 20

New York Secretary of State Robert J. Rodriguez reminded businesses of a new law to protect consumers from potential gift card scams. Effective June 20 all businesses selling gift cards must display a notice to caution consumers about gift card fraud.

Unemployment Down Again In Otsego County

The state labor department reports Otsego County unemployment dropped again last month to 2.8%. Chenango County had 2.5% unemployment in April and it was , 2.9% in Delaware County. The state unemployment rate was 4% which is a tenth of a point decline.

Turkey Hunter Charged With Shooting Decoy

A turkey hunter ends up in trouble for shooting a decoy in the Bear Spring Mountain Wildlife Management Area. State Forest Rangers caught the man who sped away after realizing he had shot a fake turkey. The man now has a date to appear in town of Walton Court.

Molinaro Pays Tribute To Oneonta Soldier

19th district congressman Marc Molinaro paid tribute on the House of Representatives floor to Chief Warrant Officer Christopher Eramo. The Army Officer from Oneonta died in a helicopter crash in Alaska last month. Molinao also paid tribute to the sacrifices service members make on a daily basis

Injured Raven Found In Summit

An injured raven was found last week in in the town of Summit. A state forest ranger was assisted by neighbord in capturing the bird which was still able to quickly hop and glide away. The Friends of the Feathered and Furry wildlife center treated the raven.

Bainbridge Community Garden Receives State Grant

The Bainbridge Community Garden is awarded nearly $5,800 of funding from the state’s Urban Farms and Community Gardens Grant Program. The money qill be used for projects focusing on food production, food safety, and food distribution while creating a lasting impact on local food resiliency.
