A water main replacement project begins today in Oeonta’s 6th Ward that runs until this fall. It will be on River Street and Ann Street Temporary barricades and traffic flaggers will be in place to direct drivers through the work zones.
A woman from Colchester with an active arrest warrant ends up in more trouble as Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies were taking her into custody. Deputies say she failed to comply with an order to surrender. She was booked into jail and has a daye in Town of Colchester Court.
The State Departmwent of Labor says Otsego County unemployment in May was up by a tenth of a percentage point, to 2.9%. 100 more people filed for unemployment while 600 were added to the county’s work force. Chenango County’s May unemployment was 2.7% and in Delaware County it was 3.1%
A man from Davenport is charged with falsely reporting a hit-and-run crash. State Police say the man claimed hos car was hit in the Oneonta Lowe’s parking lot but an investigation determined his car was never struck and already had existing damage.
The state Department of Environmenta Conservation is considering regulatory changes for the management of end-of-life solar panels and is conducting a survey to gather more information about the current management practices being used by industry stakeholders. The survey will close on Wednesday, July 12.
The Chenango County Historical Society receives a donation from the Stewart’s Holiday Match program totaling $1,000. Funds go directly to support activities designed to share local history with children and families. Since 1986, the Stewart’s Holiday Match has awarded more than $36 million to non-profit organizations.
The SUNY Oneonta Fine Arts parking lot and a portion of the small lot in front of the Field House is closed for construnction until August 1. his work will improve parking for people with disabilities and realign pedestrian crossings.
The Otsego County Deputy Sheriff’s PBA partnered with the Otsego County Child Advocacy Center and the Otsego-Schoharie Child Fatality Review team to provide bicycle safety information to pre-kindergarten students in the Unatego Central School District. Students were given donated bicycle helmets at the event.
A public hearing on a potential merger of the Cobleskill Police and the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office is today at the Cobleskill Firehouse beginning at 6:00 p.m. According to the Cobleskill Times-Journal the hearing is a listening session with the consultants studying the proposed merger.
Bassett Healthcare Network and Hartwick College announced the launch of joint simulation labs for first-year Bassett residents and nursing students. This is the first time Bassett residents are partnering with Hartwick nursing students in simulation labs. 23 first-year Bassett physicians are participating.
