Stanley Named Interim SUNY Chancellor

SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley is named as interim SUNY Chancellor following the resignation of Dr. james Malatras over text messages connected to former Governor Andrew Cuomo’s sexual assault allegations. 2 More COVID-19 Deaths In Otsego County

The Otsego County Department of Public Health reports 2 people have died from COVID-19 related complications. It’s not known if either individual was vaccinated. There are now 93 COVID-19 related deaths with 72 of those occurring this year. The department reports 320 active COVID-19 cases with 12 people hospitalized.

NY Completes Holiday Toy, Coat and School Supply Drive

New York’s annual statewide donation drive to benefit families in need is now complete. Donations of new unwrapped toys, coats and school supplies were collected at the Homer Folks Facility in Oneonta and at other locations to assist community-based organizations during the holiday giving season. Meth Lab Found In Norwich

A report of gunfire in Norwich on Saturday ends up with police discovering an active meth lab. Officers responded to a South Broad St. home and the lab was found while investigating the shooting. Preferred Foundation Now Accepting Scholarship Applications

Chenengo County Underage Drinking Detail Results In Bainbridge Business Not In Compliance

State Police conducted an underage drinking detail in Chenango County and of the 14 businesses checked only one in Bainbridge was in violation. During the detail retail establishments are checked using a trooper in plain clothes and one or several underaged operatives who cannot lie about their age. NY’s Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise Utilization Rate Leads the Nation

New York surpassed its official utilization rate goal for the state’s Minority-and Women-Owned Business Enterprises on state contracts in fiscal year 2020-2021. The rate is just over 30% which according to officials is the highest in the country. Over that fiscal year more than $3 billion in contracts were awarded.
