Milford Crash Under Investigation

An investigation is under way into a one-car crash Tuesday in Milford where the car hit a tree and ended up on its roof. The Edmeston Volunteer Fire Department names 2nd Asst. Chief Larry Brown as Chief. He succeeds Mike Hume who served as chief for the last 7 years. Prior to becoming Chief Hume was a senior captain. DCSO Sergeant Promoted To Senior Investigator

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputy Sergeant Christopher Erwin is promoted to Senior Investigator. He fills the vacancy of Joseph Mauro who was recently promoted to Lieutenant. Erwin supervised Road Patrol Deputies and now heads the Criminal Investigations Division focusing on major crimes throughout the county. SUNY Cobleskill Testing Site Opens Tomorrow

The state’s COVID-19 testing site at SUNY Cobleskill opens on Thursday. It is located at the Bouck Hall Ballroom and hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Most testing is by appointment but there is a limited walk-in capacity. SNAP Recipients To Get Additional Food Assistance

Thosee enrolled in the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for January. Households already receiving the maximum monthly benefit, and those that had been receiving an emergency allotment will receive a minimum supplement of $95. Chenango County Confirms 6 More COVID-19 Related Deaths

The Chenango County Health Department reports their health team was able to confirm COVID-19 as the contributing cause of death for 6 residents between November 21 and Dec. 27. Vaccination status for those individuals was not made available. The county has 98 COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began. Fire Destroys Oneonta House & Garage

A home and garage on Riverstone Road in Oneonta is destroyed by fire on Sunday. Firefighters found the structures fully engulfed and reinforcements arrived from Milford, Pindars Corners, West Oneonta, Laurens, Otego and Schenevus. OCDOH Implements Home COVID-19 Test Reporting Portal

The Otsego County Department of Health launches a website where those using a COVID-19 home test can post their results. A link is at otsegocounty.com.
