NY Requests $1.6 Billion in Additional Federal Funding for Emergency Rental Assistance

New York seeks an additional $1.6 billion in federal funding for emergency rental assistance. According to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office more than $2 billion was paid or obligated covering around 166,000 applications. If the funding is awarded it would cover over 170,000 additional applications. New York Secure Choice Savings Program Board Holds Initia;l Meeting

The New York Secure Choice Savings Program Board held its first meeting this week. According to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office the Board is the first phase in establishing a secure retirement savings plan for private-sector employees. December 2021 Unemployment Numbers Released

The State Labor Department released the December unemployment numbers. The statewide rate is 6.2% with just over 45,000 private sector jobs added last month. Unemployment in Otsego County last month was 3% and for Chenango & Delaware Counties the rate was 2.8%. NY Releases List Of Cannabis Sales Opt-Outs

The state released a list of municipalities optiong out of retail marijuana sales. In Otsego County the Towns of Otsego, Westford, Worcester and the Village of Gilbertsville opted out. 8 Chennango and 8 Delaware County municipalities opted out including Sidney, Walton, New Berlin and Sherburne. The Chenango County Health Department holds a COVID-19 vaccine and booster clinic on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at their South Plaza location on Route 12 in Norwich. Roxbury Man Faces Felony Theft Charge

A Roxbury man faces a felony charge for stealing metal from a Stamford building then trying to sell it by saying he owned the items. Police say the man stole the metal last November and he was apprehended after a search warrant was executed. He’s free on his own recognizance.
