The 2021 hunting season in New York were the safest ever according to the Department of Environmental Conservation with the lowest number of hunting-related shooting incidents since record-keeping began in 1949. The Chenango County Health Department reports 7 people died from COVID-19 related complications between Jan. 13 and Feb. 10. Since the pandemic began there are 109 deaths. The Chenango County Health Department holds a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Friday, March 4 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at their South Plaza location on Route 12 in Norwich. The Chenango SPCA is offering half-price adoption fees during its “Love is in the Air” promotion. Charges are filed in a tree-cutting incident in Coventry State Forest. According to the Department of Environmental Conservation a forest ranger on patrol located 3 tree stumps and an investigation determined a Chenango County man cut down a total of 7 trees to make firewood.
