Gildemeister Resigns As SC Public Health Director

Schohaie County’s Public Health director has resigned. According to the Cobleskill Times-Journal Dr. Amy Gildemeister cited a hostile work environment, reckless actions by the Board of Supervisors, and lies about her performance as reasons for her departure. The Board of Health will be working with supervisors on naming an interim and then a new director.

NY Offering Fully Paid Parental Leave

New York is offering fully paid parental leave benefits to state employees. More than 10,000 unrepresented State employees will be eligible to receive 12 weeks of fully paid leave to use for bonding with a newborn, fostered, or adopted child. The majority of employees will be able to take leave starting today.

Seed Starting Workshop Is Saturday

Cornell Cooperative Extension hosts Otsego Master Gardener Volunteers, Darleen Fournier and Carol Phelps, for Seed Starting Tips, an in-person, hands-on workshop this Saturday, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the CCE Education Center in Cooperstown. The workshop is $10 per person, payable at the door.

DEC Announces Annual ‘Buffer in a Bag’ Program

The State Department of Environmental Conservation opens the application period for the Trees for Tribs’ “Buffer in a Bag” program. Qualifying private and public landowners may apply for a free bag of 25 tree and shrub seedlings for planting near streams, rivers, or lakes. Application deadline is April 7.

Norwich St. Baldrick’s Foundation Event Is March 18

The annual Norwich St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving event to raise money for children’s cancer research is set for March 18 at 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 189 on Sheldon St. The fundraiser returns to an in-person event after being held virtually during the pandemic.

Davenport Man Charged With Stealing Electric Service

A man from Davenport is charged with larceny from a Delaware County Sheriff’s investigation into theft of electricity service. The investigation started after a complaint came in last month. The man was booked then released and is to return to Town of Davenport Court on a later date.

SUNY Oneonta VITA Now Operating

Woman Charged In Delhi Robbery

A woman is charged with stealing cash and merchandise from a Delhi store. Police say the woman took $87 in cash and other merchandise from Clark’s Milk on Elk Creek Road. She was booked then released to appear in Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

Edmeston Pursuit Leads To Driver’s Arrest

An attempted traffic stop in the Town of Edmeston turns into a police pursuit with the driver now macing multiple charges. Police say they tried to stop the driver on County Highway 20 but she failed to stop and led officers on a brief chase which ended after she pulled into a driveway.

Woman Charged In Cobleskill Vehicle Theft

A woman faces multiple charges for stealing a vehicle from a Cobleskill business. State Police say the woman took the vehicle early Monday and she crashed it on Cliff Street in Middleburgh. She was taken into custody uninjured and the vehicle was recovered.
