Richmondville Man Charged In DV Incident

A man from Richmondville is facing multiple charges from a State Police domestic dispute investigation. Troopers say the man got into an altercation with the victim causing non-life-threatening injuries, broke a cell phone to prevent them from calling 911, and threatened the victim with scissors.

Karcher Named DCSO Corporal

Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond announced Deputy Kyle Karcher is named to the position of Corporal. Corporal Karcher is a 9-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, having joined in 2014 as a lateral transfer from the Village of Sidney Police Department.

DEC Restocking Area Waterways

The State Department of Environmental Conservation is restocking area waterways in advance of trout season beginning April 1. Officials say they have two different-sized trout, that are raised in DEC hatcheries. The DEC stocks fish up through the month of September.

Area Nonprofit Gets Housing Grant

Greater Opportunities for Broome and Chenango, Inc. is one of 2 agencies sharing in $554,000 in federal funding to support local affordable housing and community development. 19th District Congressman Marc Molinaro says the money is to be used for preserving affordable housing, revitalizing and sustaining neighborhoods and creating jobs.

State Burn Ban Starts March 16

The State Department of Environmental Conservation reminds residents that New York’s annual ban prohibiting residential brush burning begins March 16 and runs through May 14. Since 2009, DEC has enforced the annual brush burning ban to prevent wildfires and protect communities during heightened conditions for wildfires.

Oberacker Calls For More Highway Funding

State Sen. Peter Oberacker joins his Republican colleagues in calling for increased state funding to do highway improvements. The New York State Association of County Highway Superintendents and the New York State Association of Town Superintendents of Highways also called for greater state investment in local transportation infrastructure.

Bassett Consolidating Oneonta Women’s Clinics

Bassett Healthcare Network is consolidating 2 women’s clinics in Oneonta. According to All Otsego Oneonta Women’s Health located next to Oneonta Specialty Services on Associate Drive will merge with the Women’s Health Clinic at FoxCare Center. The consolidation is slated to take place sometime this summer.
