Chakar Resigns As Andes CSD Superintendent

The Andes Central School District is looking for a new superintendent after Robert Chakar Jr. tendered his resignation. The school board issued a statement saying they want to assure the school community of their unwavering belief in the faculty and staff’s ability to educate and care for students and families.

Seniors Asked To Take State Survey

The State Office for the Aging is asking residents 60 and older to take the Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults. It’s in partnership with the Association on Aging in New York and the research firm Polco. It is the first survey of its kind to be conducted statewide.

DCSO Celebrated Creation Of K-9 Corps

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the creation of the US Army K-9 Corps, which was formed in 1942. On Mondat the department paid tribute to and honored the service and sacrifice of all service dogs who have previously served in the military and in the many law enforcement agencies nationwide.

Delhi Man Arfested From Indictment

A Delhi registered sex offender is jailed from a 3 count Delaware County indictment. Prosecutors say the man failed to notify authorities he changed his address and failed to reregister as a sex offender. He was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon in connection with an incident last October.

Chenango County Creates Hoimetown Heroes Program

Chenango County is launching a “Hometown Heroes” program which will honor veterans with banners displayed in downtown Norwich. According to the Evening Sun the banners will include their name, branch of service, and photo on the front and back. Deadline to order a banner is April 12.

DEC Announces 2023 I BIRD NY Challenge

The State Department of Environmental Conservation announced the start of the 2023 I BIRD NY Challenge for birders of all ages and abilities. The challenge awards participants who finish the program with a commemorative I BIRD NY Challenge patch and the chance to win birding equipment.

Hartwick Man Sentenced For Child Sex Abuse

It’s 20 years in jail for a Hartwick man convicted of sexually abusing an 8-year-old. Accoring to the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office Joshua R. Condon will also be on 10 years of post-release supervision plus a full order of protection was ordered for the victim until they turn 18.

Molinaro Accepting Entries For Congressional Art Contest

19th District Congressman Marc Molinaro announced his office is accepting entries from high school students for the annual Artistic Discovery Congressional Art Competition. Artwork must be submitted with a completed copy of the competition release form no later than Monday, April 10.
