NY is taking major actions to combat wage theft. The Wage Theft Task Force recently secured felony convictions and agreements from more than a dozen businesses and 265 individuals to pay nearly $3 million in wage restitution and contributions owed to the state since the beginning of the pandemic. NY launched a workplace sexual harassment hotline. It will connect workers who have faced sexual harassment with experienced pro-bono attorneys to advise them. Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office reports state tax receipts totaled $34.4 billion through the first quarter of the fiscal year. That exceeds forecasts by $1.7 billion.
