Chenango County Warns About Leptospirosis

The Chenango County Health Department is out with a warning about a dog illness called Leptospirosis. The department says leptospirosis is caused by bacteria in contaminated soil or water that is often spread through urine. It can live in water and soil for as much as a month. Both humans and animals are susceptible to the disease and it can sometimes take up to a month to experience symptoms after exposure.
