A Sidney woman has pleaded guilty to allegations of welfare fraud. A statement from DA Shawn SMith says Dolores Barse, who also uses the name Dolores Hurlburt, admitted to the charge on Friday. Prosecutors alleged that Barse provided false information while applying for SNAP benefits and from aid from the Home Energy Assistance Program. Smith said Barse claimed she had no income when she was actually employed. Barse received more than 14-thousand dollars in benefits that Smith says she was not entitled to.
