New York is planning to expand its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to including purchasing prepared meals. Gov. Kathy Hochul says this expansion will help the homeless, disabled and elderly to use their benefits for prepared or hot food from participating restaurants. The state needs to get US Department of Agriculture approval before beginning the program.
