Chenango Student Crowned NY State’s 58th Dairy Princess

It’s official, The Chenango County Dairy Princess is now also the New York State’s 58th Dairy Princess. Norwich resident and SUNY Oneonta graduate Shelby Benjamin was crowned in a virtual ceremony on Tuesday. Benjamin will receive a $1,200 scholarship and serve for a year as a dairy industry ambassador and spokesperson, advocating for farmers and educating consumers about all things dairy. Benjamin competed against 10 other county dairy princesses in the state pageant. First Alternate State Princess Holly Niefergold from Erie County and Elizabthy Hyman from Jefferson County is second Alternate State Princess. Both alternate princesses will assist Benjamin with training, appearances and other duties.
