PHARSALIA, N.Y. (UPDATED) – A Pharsalia man wanted on an active warrant can add several assault charges to his sheet. Deputies of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Seymour C. “Charlie” Shaver, 44, who allegedly assaulted a deputy trying to arrest him on an active warrant. This happened Monday night on County Road 10 near Balsam Tyler Road in Pharsalia. Shaver allegedly punched the deputy several times before fleeing the scene. Yesterday Shaver was found in a camper at 113 County Road 47 holding a long knife while deputies were trying to take him into custody. There was a two-hour standoff before he was apprehended, and charged with assault on a police officer, second-degree assault and resisting arrest. He is currently in custody awaiting arraignment.
