Hartwick College Sophomore To Run For Otego Mayor

An 18 year old sophomore at Hartwick College has announced a run for the Otego Village Mayor’s seat. The Daily Star reports Zack Corbett said on Friday that he has gathered more than enough petition signatures to get his name on the ballot. If he wins the contest, he would certainly become the youngest mayor in the Empire State, and possibly the youngest in the nation. The due date to turn in petitions in Tuesday. So far, David Clapper, registered as a Democrat, has been endorsed by both the local major party committees. Clapper currently serves as vice president of the Unatego Central School District Board of Education. He also owns Clapper Construction. Incumbent Mayor Ernest Kroll, who has held the seat 26 years, said he would not run again.
