Bassett Renegs On Plan To Force Retirees To Pay For Supplemental Insurance

After strong pushback, Bassett Healthcare has stopped an effort to force retirees to begin paying some of the costs for their Medicare supplemtal insurance benefits. Before announcing the changes, Bassett retiress were not required to pay any out of pocket costs for their NOVA plan. Bassett covered 100 percent of the 155-dollar monthly premium, as well as all copays for services provided within the Bassett network. But Basset notified retirees recently that they would have to start parying 35 percent of the monthly premium, plus copays, beginning January 1st.
