The city of Oneontsa has issued a water emergency advisory due to low water levels at the spillway at Wilbur Lake. Public Works Director Christopher Yacobucci told council members that the level is now 74 inches below the spillway. In all, the reservoir can hold up to 550 million gallons of water. A second reservoir holds about 50 million gallons. On average the city uses around 1.7 million gallons per day. The city is advising residents to do things like take shorter showers and turn the faucet off while you’re brushing your teeth.
