New York Governor Kathy Hochul has annoucned that SUNY Oneonta will play a major part in developing new battery technology. The university has been chosen as one of two in the state to receive funding from the US Department of Energy for a long-duration storage project using fire-safe batteryies. Hochul’s office said that the technology is being designed to be used in urban and rural settings, demostrating a stable energy supply during periods of high demand and extreme weather.
