Schenevus Lake has recently re-opened after fgundraising efforts and a service project. The group called Friends of Schenevus Lake was formed three years ago, according to member Steve Barton. Donations to the tax-exempt group have allowed them to buy two new picnic tables and materials for a camp stove that have been installed in the field above the beach parking lot. They have also purchased equipment and supplies for the park beach. Plus, Schenevus resident Elijah Reed recently completed his Eagle Scout project installing a new lifeguard rest shack on the beach.
