An Otsego County man has been arrested and charged with corporal punishment against his children. Timothy Melius Junior, of Pittsfield, was arrested after a complaint was made to the sheriff’s office regarding ongoing child abuse. In a prepared statement, the sheriff’s office says the investigation revealed that Melius subjected children to physical abuse in the form of corporal punishment that endangered their safety and welfare. The investigation also revealed that Melius had allegedly beaten and killed a cat with a baseball bat.
