Former Remington Arms Union Secretary Escapes Prison Time For embezzlement

An Otsego County man has escaped prison time after being convicted for embezzlement. 40 year old Jay Garnsey, of Richfield Springs, pleaded guilty to the charges dating back to 2015 through 2019 while he was employed at Remington Arms. During that time, he worked as the financial secretary for the union representing Remington employees. Garnsey admitted that he stole around 38-thousand dollars un union funds through fraudulent reimbursement vouchers. On Thursday, a judge ordered him to serve four years of probation and make full restitution to the union.
