Stagecoach Coffee Owners Withdraw Oneonta Business Plans

Oneonta residents appear to have been successful in stopping a business expansion plan. Chris and Matt Grady, the owners of Cooperstown-based Stagecoach Coffee – have withdrawn their plans for 31 Walnut Street in Oneonta, which is currently a residential property. They were asking for a special permit to renovate the garage into a coffee shop, but residents objected, claiming the business plans didn’t fit in with the historic charm of the area.

At least one member of the Oneonta planning commission says he’s very disappointed in the withdrawal of the Stagecoach Coffee plans. Chair Danny Lapin told the Daily Star that the Grady’s are stand up people and that the loss of the business will be a big loss for Oneonta. Lapin further said in his statement that, if people want progress in Oneonta, they cannot fear change.
