The Otsego County health Department confirms that a skunk in East Worcester tested positive for rabies. The skunk was found in a field with farm animals, acting abnormally. All of the farm animals have been boosted with rabies vaccine and there was no human exposure. As a reminder, all pet dogs, cats and ferrets must be vaccinated against rabies annually. Any unvaccinated pets that are exposed to rabies must either be euthanized or quarantined at the owner’s expense for six months.
