Demolition Of Former Oneonta Car Dealership Begins

The blighted demolition of a long-vacant eysore in Oneonta has finally begun. The city says Gorick Construction began the tear down of 27 Market Street on Friday, which was once a car dealership. The building has long been condemned. The city purchased the building in 2020 from a private resident for 425-thousand dollars in 2020. Barricades and signs are up, but the city reminds everyone to stay far away from the demolition site due to the possibility of airborne asbestos. The work is expected to take several more weeks.
