State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office finds the Department of Environmental Conservation is not doing enough to ensure rechargeable batteries are being recycled. Recycling rechargeable batteries is required by a law passed in 2010 to protect the environment and public safety. DiNapoli says DEC is responsible for enforcing the law.
