On Monday Gov. Kathy Hochul signed 10 bills toughening the state’s gun laws. They include enhancing the existing red flag laws, raising the age for buying an assault rifle to 21 and requiring social media companies to monitor user content for hate speech. Body armor purchases are now limited to those in specific professions.
