Margaretville Telephone Company reports a service outage occurred from a gunshot hitting a Fiber Optic cable which damaged the glass fiber strands that carry the telecommunications signals to customers. The company says to take the necessary precautions before discharging a firearm to ensure there are no utility facilities located within the target area.
