The Deposit man appealing his attempted first-degree murder conviction for shooting a State Trooper is denied bail while his case is being heard. Prosecutors say Scott Mawhiney opened fire when the trooper arrived to investigate a domestic abuse call. Mawhiney received a 30-year sentence.
