\Retired Congressman Sherwood Boehlert Dies

Former Congressman Sherwood Boehlert has died at the age of 84. The Republican who represented Chenango County during his 24-year career is known for his environmental protection work including the Clean Air Act passed in 1990. Boehlert is survived by his wife, Marianne, four children and their spouses, and several grandchildren. Davenport Man Charged With Child Sexual Abuse

A Davenport man appeared in federal court on Monday on charges he sexually assaulted a child. Prosecutors say it happened last November and the man posted a photo and video online. Jefferson Crash Results In Felony Weapons Charge

A one-car crash in Jefferson results in a man facing felony charges after police find a loaded assault rifle in the vehicle. Investigators say the crash happened Saturday on State Route 10 and the 22-year-old man from Jefferson also had 2 large-capacity ammunition magazines. He is due back in court next month. Downsville Probationer Facing New Charge

A Downsville woman who met with her probation officer is in more trouble after she’s found to possess illegal drugs. Police say they found the woman had Suboxone in her possession during a routine search as part of the meeting. The woman is due in Town of Delhi court at a later date.
