NBT Bank Matching Chenango Greenway Conservancy, Donations

NBT Bank is pitching in to help the Chenango Greenway Conservancy purchase The Stone Quarry in Norwich. Through August 27 NBT will match every donation made toward this project, up to $5,000. Chenango County Lawmakers Not Advancing Respectful Communication Resolution

Chenango County’s Safety and Rules Committee is not advancing a resolution encourageing residents to be respectful of differing political opinions. The Evening Sun reports the resolution ended up with a tie vote. Discussion began earlier this year after complaints about a vulgar political display on a private property. Cuomo Files For Retirrement

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has filed for retirement. WRGB in Albany reports the state comptroller’s office confirmed the soon-to-be ex-governor’s retirement will be effective Sept. 1. According to the comptroller’s office Cuomo has around 14-1/2 years of state service meaning he will receive an annual pension in the neighborhood of $50,000. More COVID-19 Cases In Otsego & Chenango Counties

The Otsego County Department of Health reported 18 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday brining the total to 100. 5 people are hospitalized. Chenango County has 103 active cases which is 9 more than on Tuesday. 213 people are in quarantine and 7 people are hospitalized. Neither county reported additional COVID-19 deaths. Chenango County Rabies Clinic On Sept. 9

The Chenango County Health Department is holding a Rabies Clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets on Sept. 9 at Baillie Lumber in Smyrna from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The clinic is drive-through for check-in but pets will be removed for vaccination. Charges Filed In Stamford Forcible Touching Investigation

Forcible touching of a minor charges are brought against a man after an investigation in the Village of Stamford. According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office the 21-year-old from Gloversville inappropriately touched a juvenile girl over a 2-year period. He was taken into custody earlier this month.
