The state trooper injured while responding to a call in Deposit is now out of the hospital. Trooper Ryan Thorp underwent surgery when he was shot by Scott Mawhiney during a domestic dispute call last week. Fellow troopers were at the hospital on Wednesday to send Trooper Thorp their well wishes. An invesitgation resulted in Mawhiney being taken into custody the day after the shooting and charged with first-degree felony attempted murder. He’s been incarcerated without bail.
