Starting on Aug. 21 you will need to be at least 18 years old to get married in New York. Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill that removes the ability for 17-year-olds to be married with parental and judicial consent. Cuomo says the measure will further protect vulnerable children from exploitation. It was 4 years ago when New York raised the age of consent from 14 to 17 with parental and judicial approval.
