A 22-year-old man died while in custody at the Chenango County Jail. The Sheriff’s Office reports Dillin R. Button was located unresponsive in his cell early Wednesday morning and correctional officers attempted lifesaving measures while waiting for paramedics. An autopsy determined Button died from a blood infection of the heart and pneumonia. He had been taken into custody Monday on a bench warrant. The Sheriff;s Department and State Police are handling the death investigation.
