Sidney PD Traffic Stop Nets Two Drug Offenders

Last week, Sidney PD responded to a report of a disturbance at a business in the Village, which lead to the arrest of two men on drug charges. Originally, officers contacted Michael J. Ide of Otego, who was found to have an active warrant out of the city of Oneonta. Officers found a small amount of crack cocaine and methamphetamine on his person while taking him into custody. Ide was charged with two counts of possession, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and another unspecified misdemeanor. Ide received appearance tickets and was turned over to Oneonta PD on the arrest warrant. In the process of investigating Mr. Ide, a NY State Police canine unit alerted to a vehicle involved in the investigation and officers discovered several separately packaged quantities of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, packaging material, a 30-06 caliber rifle and assorted ammunition. Brandon C. MacLaury of Guilford was arrested and charged with Criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a class D felony, and Criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. MacLaury arraigned, and released on his own recognizance to appear in court at a later date. The investigation remains open with the possibility of more charges pending.
