Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond issued a reminder that that shooting at birds or animals on utility lines, as well as target shooting in the area of those lines often results in damages to fiber optic cables and other critical telecommunications infrastructure causing service outages. DuMond says if an investigation finds an outage was caused by an individual they could be liable for the service restitution costs and also possible criminal prosecution.
