The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office received grant funding through a partnership with the Chenango Health Network to train staff on providing mental health first aid. The grant from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will train emergency services personnel, law enforcement, fire department personnel, veterans, and others to identify persons with a mental disorder and employ crisis de-escalation techniques. It also provides public education on resources that are available in the community for individuals with a mental disorder.
