School Tax Cap To Stay At 2%

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announces that for the second year in a row, property tax levy growth for school districts will be capped at 2 percent. This affects tax calculations for more than 675 school districts with fiscal years starting July 1. The cap was implemented in 2012 and limits annual tax levy increases to the lesser of the rate of inflation or 2 percent with certain exceptions.
